On November 9, the Chadwick Academic Team placed third in the annual MTC Quiz Bowl Tournament.
The tournament was hosted by School of the Ozarks, who placed second overall, losing to New Covenant Academy in the championship match.
For the Chadwick Team, the leading scorer was senior Katie Sallee with 70 points. Senior Bianca Mitchell and junior Natalie Parker added 50 points each. Freshmen Madison Mitchell and Bryson Parker had 20 points apiece, and freshmen Luke Lorenz and Gretchen House each scored 10 points. Freshmen Arwyn Brethen and Connor Zimmerman also saw playing time.
The team placed first among public schools, defeating Hurley 110-30 in the consolation match.
Team captain Katie Sallee said, “I feel like we did really well considering we have so many freshmen this year.”
“I thought the team did very well in our first competition of the year,” said Academic Team Coach Tyler Walker. “We have a lot of time to study and improve before our District competition in April.”
