Preschool Programs

Chadwick Preschool

Our preschool is a licensed and accredited full-day childcare facility for children ages three to five. We employ two fully certified teachers and aides, trained in early childhood curriculum and instruction. The full day program is open on days when the Chadwick School District is in session from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Transportation during the regular school day for Chadwick Preschool participants is the responsibility of the parent/s or guardians.

Enrollment

If you are interested in enrolling your child, please contact Mrs. Shylah Strickler for three-year-olds and Mrs. Courtney Johnson for four-year-olds.

Early Childhood Special Education Center

The Early Childhood Special Education Center at Chadwick offers instructional and support services to early childhood children (ages 3 – 5) who have met certain criteria as specified by state and federal law. If criteria are met, an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) may be developed with input from the student, parents or guardians, teachers, and other professionals who are pertinent to the education of the child. Goals are written and the specialized education begins. Some (but not all) examples of specialized education may include help with academics, communication skills, social skills, fine motor skills, or gross motor skills. The program is funded by the State of Missouri with no cost to parents.

If you are the parent of, or know of, a child who may need specialized education services, please contact the Chadwick School office at 634-3588. Referral will then be made for professional screening, conference with individuals pertinent to the child’s development, and possible placement in the Early Childhood Special Education program.

Parents as Teachers (PAT)

Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a national organization dedicated to parents and children ages 0 – 5 years.  The foundational belief is “All children will learn, grow and develop to realize their full potential.”  Accordingly, the PAT mission is “to provide the information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life.”

Program goals include:

  1. Increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and improve parenting practices.
  2. Provide early detection of developmental delays and health issues.
  3. Prevent child abuse and neglect.

Personal and group visits with parents and their children are made in the home, at the district school, or other locations, as preferred by the parents.  Visits are very informative and fun for the children too!
