On September 12, the boys and girls junior high basketball teams earned first place trophies at the Mark Twain Conference Tournament in Niangua.
The boys defeated New Covenant in the championship, and the girls won against Hurley.
Eighth grade guard Tristan Smith said, “We got a lot of steals and very few turnovers which helped us take the lead early.”
Eighth grade guard Raeleigh Little said teamwork has been key to her team’s success. “We work together really well,” she said.
Both teams have started out strong. The boys are 3-2 so far and the girls are currently undefeated with a record of 5-0.
Coach Guerin has high hopes for the rest of the season. He said, “Their work ethic is strong, and defensively, they understand what the game plan is.”
