Free Throws Raise Money for Student Athletes

On Friday, October 26, 2012, the girls basketball team had a free throw-a-thon to help raise money for new shoes and travel gear. Each player was responsible for getting pledges from family and  community members.

Maddie Hursh did the best out of all ten girls, shooting 89 out of 100 free throws. But Hailey Stevens was  close behind with 86 out of 100.

Coach Darin Meinders says the girls did a great job shooting, and it was a good way to help offset the cost of the gear. He is looking forward to the pie auction, which will benefit both the girls and boys basketball teams.

Since this was a great fundraiser for the girls, the boys team also decided to do a free throw-a-thon on Friday, November 2, 2012. Dallas Meinders ended up shooting the best with 78 out of 100.
