Chadwick’s two seniors, Kailyn Rozell and Hailey Stevens, will never know what it’s like to have their high school basketball season end before March.
The duo, and Chadwick, will play post-February basketball once again. Chadwick won its fourth straight district title Friday night, defeating Bradleyville 62-52 in the Class 1, District 4 finals at Ozark High School.
Stevens led the way with a game-high 29 points and some big plays down the stretch.
With the game tied 47-47 after a Rozell layup, Stevens would drill a 3-pointer that gave Chadwick a 50-47 lead with about four minutes remaining.
She made a runner on Chadwick’s next possession to give the Cardinals a 52-47 lead they would not relinquish.
Chadwick made its free throws down the stretch to clinch the win, its third victory over Bradleyville this season.
Chadwick is headed to the Class 1 sectional round on March 3 in Cabool, where they will face a familiar opponent. The Cardinals go up against Bunker, a team it’s beaten in the sectional round the past two seasons.
