Pink Out Fundraiser

The basketball teams hosted a Pink Out game on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.

The annual event raises money for someone battling brain cancer, and for the first time, the basketball teams voted to give the proceeds to a player from an opposing team: junior Emma Bolick from Southern Missouri RUSH.

Over $2000 was raised in total. The Chadwick PTO held a silent auction with baked goods, gift certificates, and gift baskets. Additional money was also raised through t-shirt sales and individual donations.

During the game, the boys basketball players wore pink socks and the girls basketball team wore pink jerseys.

Fans showed their support by wearing pink, painting their faces, or even dying their hair pink.

Chadwick defeated School of the Ozarks in both games, with the boys winning 60-17, and the boys 64-14.

Emma and her family came to the school later in the week to meet the teams and thank them. She told them that she hoped to be well enough to play against them next year.

“It was a really emotional moment for all of us,” said Chadwick junior Chloe Burkhart. “We all know how difficult and terrible cancer is, but it hits you different when its someone your own age fighting it.”
