On the fourth Thursday of every month, the Classy Ladies Book Club gathers at a different member’s house to meet and discuss different books.

Recently, the group lost one of their dearest members, Gail Whitley. Gail’s passion for helping those who needed it inspired the group to repeat last year’s food drive for Chadwick School’s backpack program and make it an annual event.

The book the group read this past month, The Shack by Paul Young,  was about a “great sadness,” which many of the members of the book club related to due to the the recent passing of their dear friend.

One quote from the book that the women found especially powerful was when Young wrote, “Don’t ever discount the wonder of your tears. They can be healing waters and a stream of joy. Sometimes they are the best words the heart can speak.”

Current members of the book club include Linda Wommack, Trish Loveland, Heather Porter, Ann Derby, Jean Whitney, Sue Brilhart, Amy Sallee, and Donna Covelli.
