On Friday, September 23, 2013, Chadwick school held a special, fun-filled day for the grandparents of Chadwick elementary students.

Students in grades kindergarten through fourth were given the chance to invite their grandparents to have lunch with them at school and enjoy recess time.

After elementary lunch and recess was over, the grandparents were given the option to take their grandchild home without the student being counted absent for the rest of the day.

Members of Chadwick’s National Honor Society (NHS) helped serve drinks to the visiting grandparents.

In addition, the yearbook staff offered a free photo of each visiting grandparent with their grandchild, so that each grandparent could be given a permanent memory of the special day.

It was Mr. David Aldrich’s first Grandparents’ Day at Chadwick, and he was overwhelmed by the positive response. “Grandparents are such an important part of our community, and they play such an important role in the success of our school,” he said. “I’m really glad so many of them could come out and be a part of this event.”
